Africa Sustainable Investment Forum [AfricaSIF] is an independent not-for-profit network, knowledgebase and advocate for sustainable investment across Africa launched in June 2010. The AfricaSIF network of institutions and individuals promotes sustainable investment on the continent by investors in public, private and philanthropy sectors across asset classes, countries and stakeholders from our platform @ africasif.org.
AfricaSIF is a virtual
and a personal network of the investment value chain active in Africa.
We are pro-Africa and pro-sustainable investment, sharing ideas and
activities to promote sustainable investment. As
a member-driven organization, we plan to provide some key components of
the investment infrastructure in Africa, including a sustainable
investment benchmarking survey every two years starting in 2010.
AfricaSIF is a new, strategic step in facilitating
investment in Africa that purposefully integrates environmental, social and
governance [ESG] factors.
AfricaSIF has been a long time in the making. After years of developing the idea, africasif.org was registered in February 2009. The AfricaSIF Project Steering Committee
is building the AfricaSIF community of individuals and institutions
active in the investment value chain. The first event in the AfricaSIF launch roadshow in Africa on 9 June 2010 was hosted by the largest stock exchange in Africa. In the global glare of the world attention as the FIFA World Cup
comes to Africa for the first time, we have launched our network as a
platform for providing answers supporting sustainable investment in
Africa.
